In the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus taught that most people who seem to be “neighbors” won’t help when needed, and the true neighbor who offers practical help may be from a social group you wouldn’t ordinarily socialize with.
Here’s a tough truth: you may find your Christian friends evaporate when you need help and encouragement, but the biker dude with the tats and the Harley is the one bringing you groceries and taking you to the doctor. It’s a heartbreak, but it’s all too true. And I’m guilty of this one too!
It hurts to hear, but it’s true enough that Jesus went to all the bother to put it in the Bible, so it must have some enduring truth to it.
